The Bump and Fire
The most common flaw in amateur golf is starting the downswing with the upper body. This drill fixes that sequencing error.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Stand on the board with your normal 7-iron stance.
- Swing to the top. The board should click back, indicating weight on your trail leg.
- Crucial step: Before your arms start moving down, "bump" your hips toward the target until the board clicks forward.
- Only after the board clicks forward, swing your arms down to impact.
Common Mistakes
Spinning the hips instead of bumping laterally first. If you spin early, the board will rock unevenly or not shift fully.
